"Εξαφανιση" kernel στο menu grub

Καλησπερα σε ολους.Παρακολουθωντας τα περισσοτερα post στο forum για ενημερωση εδωσα στο τερματικο την παρακατω εντολη και πηρα τα εξης αποτελεσματα :

Tο προβλημα μου ειναι οτι στην εκκινηση δεν μου εμφανιζεται πουθενα στο μενου του grub o κερνελ 2.6.28-13-generic.Με ποιον τελικα μπαινω?

Εδωσα στο τερματικο την εντολη uname -a και πηρα

uname -a
Linux george-laptop 2.6.28-12-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 1 19:27:06 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
Αρα μπαινω με 2.6.28.-12-generic.Eπισης στο synaptic τα εχω ενεργοποιημενα ολα.

Για να δεις ποιόν kernel χρησιμοποιείς δώσε στο τερματικο:

uname -r

Αν υπάρχει ο kernel που θες στο /boot, μπορείς να "πειράξεις" το /boot/grub/menu.lst
και να τον προσθέσεις εσύ αν δεν υπάρχει ήδη.

Ενημερώσεις (επιβεβαίωσε ότι έχεις ενεργοποιημένη την επιλογή) > Ενημερώσεις προς διάθεση(jaunty-proposed)
Στην συνέχεια
Σύστημα > Διαχείριση συστήματος > Διαχείριση ενημερώσεων > Έλεγχος
και το αφήνεις να ολοκληρώσει την διαδικασία.

Ειχα ενεργοποιημενο το :Ενημερώσεις προς διάθεση(jaunty-proposed),εκανα επισης ελεγχο για διαθεσιμες ενημερωσεις αλλα τιποτα.Εξαλλου αυτα τα ειχα ξανακανει.Πηγαινοντας στο φακελλο του boot ειδα οτι εχει αυτα τα περιεχομενα:

Χωρις να ξερω απο αυτα ειδα οτι υπαρχουν καποιες εγγραφες του 2.6.28-13-generic σαν δηλαδη να εχει αποθηκευσει τον κερνελ εξω απο το μενου λιστ,αν τα λεω σωστα

Αφού κρατήσεις ένα αντίγραφο του /boot/grub/menu.lst πρόσθεσε σε αυτό με gksu gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst:

Κάνε restart και επέλεξε από το menu του grub τον νέο kernel που πρόσθεσες.

Αν δεν διορθωθεί, μπορείς να προσθέσεις χειροκίνητα στο menu.lst
το παρακάτω

αλλά είναι κάτι που δεν μου αρέσει...
επειδή δεν καταλαβαίνω γιατί δεν δουλεύει το sudo update-grub.
