"Prior versions of Scilab were semi-free software according to the nomenclature of the Free Software Foundation. The reason for this is that the old Scilab license's prohibition of commercial distribution or use of modified versions of Scilab contradicts clause 6 of the open source definition."
Υπόψην ότι δεν ήταν GPL συμβατή, άρα αυτός που είχε το copyright είχε το δικαίωμα να τροποποιήση και την άδεια. Αν διαβάσεις τις λεπτομέρειες της πρώτης άδειας, θα δεις ότι είναι αρκετά περιοριστική. Φυσικά η άδεια των προηγούμενων εκδόσεων δεν άλλαξε, μόνο των μεταγενέστερων.
