Συγγνώμη για το διπλοποστάρισμα αλλά απάντησε κάποιος στο άλλο forum και έγραψε τα εξής:
Έριξα μια ματιά αλλά δεν κατάλαβα και πολλά... Αν μπορείτε να δείτε στο περίπου τι εννοεί γιατί από ένα σημείο και μετά με τους κώδικες χάνομαι

We ultimately found it was buggy sound driver handling by the Pulse Audio driver that came with the OS. After he updated to Linux Mint 10, the sound works again AFTER he terminates the Pulse Audio daemon, again confirming that it is a problem with that sound package. It seems to be a known problem with Pulse Audio, perhaps some of the suggestions in these links could help you get FoFiX's sound to play for you:
