ΜΗΝ αναβαθμίσετε το Samsung Tab σας σε 3.2

Έχω την ταμπλέτα της υπογραφής μου με 3.1, την είχα πάρει αρχές Ιουλίου από έξω. Κανένα παράπονο ως τώρα, τη θεωρώ εξαιρετική ως hardware ενώ και το android είναι πολύ καλό.

Χτες μου ήρθε ειδοποίηση για αναβάθμιση σε 3.2 την οποία και έκανα ΟΤΑ. Δυστυχώς η αναβάθμιση είναι ελαττωματική και αχρηστεύει το wifi (!!), την αυτόματη περιστροφή οθόνης (!!) και όπως διάβασα και το bluetooth, κάτι που δεν επιβεβαιώνω απλά γιατί δεν το χρησιμοποιώ. Από χτες το βράδυ βοά το ίντερνετ (ας μου επιτραπεί ο δραματικός όρος) από δεκάδες χρήστες σε Ευρώπη και Αμερική που έχασαν το wifi -και να δούμε πώς θα το διορθώσουν κιόλας, αφού δεν θα μπορούν να κατεβάσουν οποιοδήποτε fix φτιάξει άρον άρον η samsung. Μάλιστα κάποιοι χρήστες αναφέρουν ότι μόλις καλέσουν τα help desk της εταιρίας τους απαντάνε «ξέρουμε, ξέρουμε, δουλεύουμε για να υπάρξει fix άμεσα» πριν καλά καλά πουν τι θέλουν. Φυσικά μέσα σε 24 ώρες η Samsung απέσυρε το update. Οπότε όποιος δεν το είδε ήταν... τυχερός. Ήθελα να ξέρω πόσοι θα χάσουν τη δουλειά τους μέσα από αυτή την τεράστια πατάτα, που θα προκαλέσει συζητήσεις, δυσφήμηση, άρθρα κλπ.

Λύση για την αναβάθμιση όταν έρθει, υπάρχει. Αφού έψαξα λίγο διαπίστωσα ότι από τις αναφορές των χρηστών το πρόβλημα είναι ότι δεν λειτουργεί το DCHP και δεν μπορεί να πάρει dynamic IP η ταμπλέτα, παίρνει όμως στάτικ, αν δηλώσεις εσύ ΙΡ, Gate, DNS κλπ. Οπότε σπίτι σου, στο ρούτερ σου, έχεις ίντερνετ και περιμένεις τη Samsung να σου στείλει το fix. Αλλά πόσοι μπορούν να κάνουν αυτή την ενέργεια; Λίγοι. Να δω πώς θα ειδοποιηθούν μάλιστα, να δω πώς θα πάρουν οδηγίες για static... Επισημαίνω ότι μιλώ για την ταμπλέτα που είναι μόνο wifi (όπως δηλ. η δική μου) και όχι την 3G/wifi για την οποία υπάρχει και ο δρόμος του ίντερνετ μέσω sim.

Λάθη συμβαίνουν, αλλά όταν στέλνεις update για ένα συγκεκριμένο μηχάνημα δεν μπορεί βρε αδελφέ να μη το δοκιμάσεις πρώτα με 5-10 αναβαθμίσεις σε μηχανάκια. Άλλο να είσαι η Canonical και να έχεις να κάνεις με 5,000 διαφορετικές hardware υλοποιήσεις και συνδυασμούς και άλλο να είσαι η samsung και να φτιάχνεις ένα αναθεματισμένο update για ΕΝΑ ΚΑΙ ΜΟΝΑΔΙΚΟ μηχάνημα, δεν συμφωνείτε; Αυτό για να μην τα βάζουμε τόσο εύκολα με τη μαμά μας όταν μας στέλνει ένα update που σε 1 στους 100 χρήστες προκαλεί κάποιο πρόβλημα.

Τέλος πάντων, το μήνυμα είναι για να μην αναβαθμίσει όποιος τυχόν δει το update, αν και όπως ανάφερα, το έχουν «τραβήξει» πίσω.

Χτες μίλησα δεύτερη φορά με το chat τους. Την πρώτη φορά, δυο ή τρεις μέρες πριν, ο τεχνικός μου είχε πει ότι ετοιμάζουν ένα fix που θα μεταδοθεί On The Air (OTA) όπως είναι το φυσιολογικό. Διαβάστε το δεύτερο chat που είχα μαζί τους και πείτε μου αν σας σηκωθεί η τρίχα.

...και αν το πιστεύετε, μόλις έβγαλαν ένα firmware που πέρασα μέσω του mac και φαίνεται ότι λύνει τα προηγούμενα προβλήματα. Χτες μου έλεγαν να το στείλω στις ΗΠΑ... Θα μας τρελάνουν;
