Δεν βλέπει καθόλου το fax/modem σε ubuntu 12.10

Γεια σας. Έχω ένα εσωτερικό fax/modem σε pci θύρα και στο ubuntu είναι σα να μην υπάρχει. Στα windows 7 φαίνεται σαν agere winmodem.
Με ένα γρήγορο ψάξιμο είδα ότι με τα winmodems υπάρχει θέμα στο ubuntu. Είδα οτί υπάρχουν κάποιες απαντήσεις αλλά είναι για παλιότερες εκδόσεις του ubuntu.
Για το 12.10 64bit μπορεί να μου πει κάποιος τι να κάνω; μήπως υπάρχει κάτι καινούργιο;

Ανοιξε τερματικο πατωντας Ctrl+Alt+T και γραψε lspci -nn .
Mε το αποτελεσμα της εντολης αυτης βλεπουμε τις συσκευες που εχει ο υπολογιστης μας καθως επισης και αν κατι δεν εχει αναγνωριστει.

Τον κώδικα τον βάζουμε μέσα σε [cοde]κώδικας[/cοde]. Επιλέγουμε το κείμενο και πατάμε το κουμπάκι .

Υποψιάζομαι ότι το μόντεμ απαιτεί τον οδηγό slmodem, που είναι ένα πακέτο με κλειστό λογισμικό. Και το λογισμικό αυτό είναι διαθέσιμο μόνο σε 32-bit Linux, και για παλιές εκδόσεις διανομών (5-6 χρονών). Κάνε αυτά που αναφέρει ο ubuderix για να είμαστε σίγουροι.

Αυτό που θα πρότεινα είναι να δοκιμάσεις κάποια υπηρεσία όπως από το viva.gr, όπου λαμβάνεις νέο τηλεφωνικό νούμερο για FAX. Ό,τι φαξ στέλνεται στο νούμερο αυτό, το λαμβάνεις ως PDF μέσω ημαιλ. Και μπορείς να στείλεις φαξ με κάποιο τρόπο μέσω διαδικτύου χωρίς να χρειάζεσαι συσκευή. Το κόστος γενικά είναι αρκετά μικρό για μια τέτοια υπηρεσία.

Παραπάνω δείχνει ότι υπάρχει η συσκευή ως συσκευή PCI. Δε δίνει πληροφορίες ότι έχει φορτωθεί κάποιος οδηγός, και πράγματι δεν πρέπει να έχει μπει οδηγός.

Δοκίμασε
1. Δες στις Ρυθμίσεις συστήματος για Πρόσθετους οδηγούς. Ενδέχεται να προτείνει κάτι το Ubuntu.
2. Δες στο https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Dialu ... /ScanModem για το πρόγραμμα scanModem όπου λαμβάνει πληροφορίες για τον υπολογιστή σου και το μόντεμ. Οι πληροφορίες είναι χρήσιμες ακόμα και για τη χρήση για FAX.

Some modem drivers can only be used in 32 bit modem on x86_64 systems,
while some others are competent on x86_64 Systems. Cases are:
