Gracias Milo !

Thank you! We are happy you found our wiki interesting!

I share whatever I can, and whatever my memory has not forgotten!
I give you a little background of when we started to structure the
wiki in that way.
We started the wiki in late 2005, at the beginning we where hosted
inside wiki.ubuntu.com, and then moved everything to another domain.
Since then, we have worked on the theme, on new macros, and small
fixes here and there.
> 1) What wiki engine do you use ?
The engine is MoinMoin at version 1.9.2, we one you find in Ubuntu.

We have a peculiar structure for our wiki.
We have people with administration right, that can modify all the
pages in the wiki, altering even the ACL of each page, but this is a
very small team (it is called "Operators").
Then there is a team we call "Editors" that are like supervisors: they
act as editors, reviewing guides written by others, performing all the
correctness checks, and then when the guide is OK, they insert in in
the right sections and in the index. They are also like tutors,
helping new people write correctly.
And then there are the "writers".
We are using MoinMoin feature of "sub-pages", so that we have
"sections" that group wiki guide with the same argument. This is a
rough image of our structure:
wiki.u.i
wiki.u.i/Virtualization
wiki.u.i/Virtualization/Qemu
Everybody is able to edit the Qemu guide, but only Editor and Admin
are able to edit the Virtualization page, since this page acts like an
index.
> 3) What are the stages of creating a wiki section/page ?
More or less the one I explained before:
- A user writes a new guide
- She asks for review of the guide
- When the guide is ready and conforms to our standard, it is inserted
in the right index page
Keep in mind that, if you need to revitalize your team, this way of
proceeding might not work well in the beginning: you need to have a
good team of reviewers and admin before, in order for them to be ready
and "quick" to answer writers requests and to check the new guides.
What I suggest you to start with, is to create guidelines for the
writers: guidelines on how to write new guides, what is the
terminology that they should use (like the glossary for translators),
and how to write (more or less the same way you have for a translation
team: "use a formal tone when writing", "do not speak directly to the
users", this sort of things).
In the beginning maybe you don't want to have very strict rules, you
want people to start writing and enjoy what they are doing. Try to
think also of some sort of rewards: the Italian doc team has a blog
that is syndicated on our planet, and there we talk about new guides
and about who wrote them.
If you have other questions or requests, do not hesitate to contact us!
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Ciao!
PS: I CC'ed also "manolis ellinas", he wrote us, but at a different
email address.

ζητώντας να μας δώσουν τον κώδικα από το παραμετροποιημένο moinmoin τους;
Για να έχουμε την ίδια μορφή wiki με το δικό τους. Πως σας φαίνεται σαν ιδέα;
