Δε βλέπω παρά μόνο τη πρώτη σελίδα. Το έκανες και αν ναι πως; Με εργαλεία TeX; Με ενδιέφερε να το κάνω, αλλά αφού κατέβασα ο,τι είχε σχέση με TeX το παράτησα γιατί είχα και άλλα πράγματα να ασχοληθώ και μετά το ξέχασα.

Έχει γράψει κάποιος οδηγίες στην επίσημη λίστα πως να γίνει το PDF του manual. Αυτές ακολούθησες;

Για τα άλλα που λέτε δε θα διαφωνήσω. Απλά μη ξεχαστούμε.

Δεν το έκανα εγώ αλλά ο Kevin Godby, του οποίου η συμβολή είναι τεράστια. Είμαι γραμμένος στην mailing list της ομάδας και λαμβάνω συχνά πυκνά ενδιαφέροντα μηνύματα, παρατηρήσεις για τον οδηγό και προσκλήσεις για ορισμένα "meeting" που κάνει η ομάδα σε ένα κανάλι irc. Εκεί λαμβάνονται όλες οι κρίσιμες αποφάσεις (με ψηφοφορία ) για την πορεία του έργου και ο καθένας μπορεί να εκφράσει την γνώμη του ελεύθερα. Γενικά υπάρχει αρκετά καλή οργάνωση, αν παρευρεθείτε έστω σε μια απο αυτές τις "συναντήσεις" θα καταλάβετε περί τίνος πρόκειται. Σας παροτρύνω να γραφτείτε στην mailing list της ομάδας , για περισσότερα στο https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-manual. Κλείνει εδώ η παρένθεση.
Έλαβα προχθές ένα μήνυμα από την ομάδα όπου ο Kevin έλεγε με λίγα απλά βήματα, πως μπορείς να κάνεις compile ένα μετεφρασμένο pdf του οδηγού, εφόσον φυσικά υπάρχει διαθέσιμη η μετάφραση στο launchpad (πρέπει όμως να έχετε λογαριασμό στο launchpad). Το μήνυμα το έχω παραθέσει μέσα σε spoiler tags, οπότε μπορείτε να το διαβάσετε και από εκεί. Για ότι απορίες έχετε, όπως λέει και στο μήνυμα, μην διστάσετε να ρωτήσετε τους ειδικούς στο κανάλι irc, #ubuntu-manual είναι πολύ φιλικοί

Good news, everyone!

I've got a lot of the translation stuff automated now.

Not-so-good news: If you want to compile translated documents, you'll
have to jump through some hoops at first.

First, for those of you who are just writing plain, boring English,
nothing has changed for you. You can continue to run 'make' and
everything should be fine. (If it's not, run the pkgs/install-pkgs.sh
script and try again.)

For those of you who would like to compile the PDF in your favorite
language/dialect, you're going to have to install the latest version
of TeX Live (2009). Unfortunately, this is not in the Ubuntu
repositories.

To install the latest TeX Live:

1. Uninstall all the Ubuntu TeX Live packages: sudo apt-get remove texlive-*

2. Download the TeX Live 2009 install script:
http://mirror.ctan.org/systems/texlive/ ... unx.tar.gz

3. Unpack the tarball: tar -zxvf install-tl-unx.tar.gz

4. Change to the newly-unpacked directory: cd install-tl-*

5. Run the script: ./install-tl

6. Select where you'd like to install everything, and any other
options you prefer. (If you want to install someplace that you don't
have permissions, you'll need to cancel and re-run the script with
'sudo'.)

7. Run the install-pkgs.sh script that's in the ubuntu-manual/pkgs/
dir to make sure you have all the required packages.

8. If everything checks out okay, you should be able to run: make
ubuntu-manual-LANG.pdf where LANG is the language code (see the po/
dir for a list of supported languages).

Note that not all languages are supported yet (especially those
requiring non-Latin scripts).

Hi everyone,

We are going to switch translation permissions from OPEN to STRUCTURED.
(https://help.launchpad.net/Translations/YourProject/PermissionPolicies)

As it has been so far, we've been set on open translation permissions meaning that anyone can add translations. Some people have just been copy and pasting from Google's language translation feature, and because of this we have got some low-quality translations.

So what we're going to do is set the permissions for translations to structured. Which means:

"Structured: if your project's translation group has assigned an individual or team to a particular language, only that person or members of that team can review and accept translation strings for that language. Anyone can suggest a translation for those languages, though. For languages that don't have an appointed team/individual within your translation group, anyone can directly submit a translation."

So, if you're translating your language and you think you deserve to be the person in charge of that language - apply to become assigned to your language. You can also assign the translations for your language to a translation team that's already set up on Launchpad.

Also, feel free to use a part of our wiki as a "sandbox" or area for communication for your team. The Lithuanian team has already done that, you can see their page here:

Στις 22 και 23 Φεβρουαρίου θα λάβει μέρος ένα event που σκοπό έχει την ενημέρωση της κοινότητας σχετικά με τους contributors του Ubuntu Manual και την ενημέρωση όσων θέλουν να μάθουν περισσότερα για τον τρόπο ανάπτυξης του έργου. Είναι μια πολύ καλή ευκαιρία για όσους λίγο αργά αυτήν την προσπάθεια και θέλουν να (μάθουν πως να) συνεισφέρουν. Επειδή όμως ποτέ δεν είναι αργά, η ομάδα του έργου σταματάει για 48 ώρες για περιμένει τους ενδιαφερόμενους.

On the 22nd and 23rd February 2010, the Ubuntu Manual project will be hosting a 48 hour event using Lernid that provides information for both new contributors and existing contributors.

Purpose:

"To provide information on the tools that the Ubuntu Manual Project uses to help both new and existing contributors to better u...nderstand the workflow process. This should enhance productivity and team communication, while reducing interior support requests and overall improve the efficiency of the team and the quality of the final product."

Over the 48 hours we will hold two sessions of each class, at different times, so that people from all timezones should be able to make it to at least one class.

Μπορείτε να παρακολουθήσετε τα μαθήματα μέσω κάποιου irc client, όσοι δεν έχουν ξαναχρησιμοποιήσει irc client δεν είναι τίποτα, δείτε τον "Οδηγο IRC με pidgin, #ubuntu-gr" (όπου #ubuntu-gr βάλτε #ubuntu-classroom ή #ubuntu-classroom-chat)
εκτός απο την χρήση irc client, μπορείτε να παρευρεθείτε στα μαθήματα πολύ απλά μέσω του προγράμματος Lernid (περισσότερα)

το event αρχίζει αύριο 17:00 και ολοκληρώνεται στη 13:00 μεθαύριο (οι ώρες που αναγράφονται στο wiki είναι δυο ώρες πίσω), θέλω δυναμική παρουσία της ελληνικής κοινότητας

Το event άρχισε εδώ και μια ώρα οπότε αν έχετε ελεύθερο χρόνο καλό είναι να το παρακολουθήσετε για να πάρετε μια ιδέα. Η τάξη "Translations and how they work", που νομίζω αφορά όλους τους μεταφραστές, αρχίζει στις 22:00 (νομίζω βολική ώρα για τους περισσότερους)

Τελείωσε η πρώτη μέρα του event όσοι δεν μπορέσατε να το παρακολουθήσετε μπορείτε να διαβάσετε τα logs (22/2), επειδή είναι απίθανο να σας ενδιαφέρουν όλες οι συνεδρίες/μαθήματα μπορείτε να διαβάστε το κομμάτι του log που σας ενδιαφέρει ανάλογα με την έναρξη και λήξη της συνεδρίας της αρέσκεια σας (δείτε στο wiki τις ώρες κάθε συνεδρίας ).
Αν δεν έχετε την όρεξη να κάτσετε να διαβάσετε τα logs τότε μπορείτε να διαβάσετε τα slide/pdf που φτιάχτηκαν για την καλύτερη σκιαγράφηση του αντικειμένου σχεδόν κάθε συνεδρίας (δείτε το wiki slides ). Προτείνω όμως την ανάγνωση των logs για την καλύτερη κατανόηση του αντικειμένου που πραγματεύεται η συνεδρία.

Τα \screenshotTODO χρησιμοποιούνται σε αυτήν την φάση απο τους συγγραφείς του οδηγού για να ξέρουν τι εικόνες θα χρησιμοποιηθούν και πού.
