Επέκταση του ubuntu 12.04 σε αρχιτεκτονική ARM

Διάβασα ότι η 12.04 θα βγει και για μηχανήματα με Arm επεξεργαστές.θα μπορούμε δηλαδή να βάλουμε ουμπούντου σε κινητά και tablet?Εμενα το tablet μου έχει Arm και έχει android 2.3,θα μπορώ να κάνω εγκατάσταση ουμπούντου δηλαδή παράλληλα με το android?

Δεν ξέρω από ARM αρχιτεκτονικές, αλλά υπάρχουν images για το alpha-1:

Ναι αλλα στο link πρόκειται για netbook.Το θέμα είναι πως θα συμπεριφέρεται σε tablet με touch screen.
Επίσημα δεν υποστηρίζονται ακόμα Arm,έτσι?Δεν βιάζομαι να βάλω alpha εκδόσεις της 12.04 η την 11.10 με τρόπους μη επισημους, από τη στιγμή που δεν υποστηρίζει ακόμα Arm επίσημα η canonical(διότι θα έχω πολλά προβλήματα).
Το θέμα επίσης είναι πως θα παρακάμψεις το ενσωματωμένο λειτουργικό του κινητού/tablet για να εγκαταστήσεις ένα άλλο OS.Aλλο κανονικός υπολογιστής και άλλο πράγμα αυτό.

Για touch screen.. σκέψου το σαν ένα μεγάλο touchpad. Υπάρχει και υποστήριξη για multitouch απ'όσο θυμάμαι, οπόταν είμαστε καλυμμένοι! Νομίζω πως θα λειτουργεί - τώρα για ARM δεν γνωρίζω, όπως είπα και πριν.

Το θέμα επίσης είναι πως θα παρακάμψεις το ενσωματωμένο λειτουργικό του κινητού/tablet για να εγκαταστήσεις ένα άλλο OS.

"root" λέγεται αυτό που γυρεύεις - "how to root android tablet" στο google. Έρχεται με το ανάλογο ρίσκο φυσικά.

What are the risks of Rooting?

Rooting your phone does come with some risks, the most notable risk is that you will void any warranty that you have on your device. However you may be able to find the stock rom for your device in which case you can reverse the rooting and make your phone stock again. You may have difficulty finding the stock ROM for your device, it all depends on your device, but it’s something worth finding before you do root.

Other then the voiding your warranty, there isn’t that much risk involved. There have been some users on Android forums that have run into problems, bricking your device is a possibility if a freak accident occurs while flashing archives. You should however not run into any problems, most users report the process as being a painless easy process.

Μαλλον βλέπω το combo Raspberrypi+Ubuntu να είναι kick-ass

Γενικα το rooting εχει ακριβώς το ίδιο ρίσκο, που έχει οταν περνάς ή περνούσες cooked roms στα pda με windows.
Δηλαδή πρακτικά κανέναν, θεωριτικά πολλούς.

Η επιλογή σε κάθε περίπτωση είναι του χρήστη.

Τα πράγματα με την arm αρχιτεκτονική είναι ότι το λειτουργικό το βάζουμε σε μια eeprom και όχι σε δίσκο. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EEPROM
Είναι μια μνήμη ROM, επομένως αν κάτι πάει στραβά δεν θα μπορέσει να ξεκινήσει ξανά η συσκευή, καθώς δεν υπάρχουν άλλες επιλογές εκκίνησης.
Ακόμα δεν υπάρχει η δυνατότητα να τρέξουμε ένα update γιατί το λειτουργικό είναι σε read only κατάσταση και αν το image δεν υποστηρίζει το υλικό μας και βγάλει ένα kernel panic έχουμε χάσει την συσκευή.

Γενικά στην arm αρχιτεκτονική το υλικό με το λειτουργικό έχουν πολύ στενή σχέση.

Ακριβώς medigeek.Και όπως με πρόλαβε ο eye,είναι επικίνδυνο κάτι τέτοιο για αυτό και δεν θέλω να το ρισκάρω εκτος και αν βγει κάποια επίσημη ασφαλής μέθοδος να κάνουμε root και μετά εγκατάσταση του ουμπούντου.
