Οταν επιλέγω ενεργοποίηση των visual effects μου εμφανίζονται οριζόντιες γραμμές στην οθόνη (αυτο άρχισε να συμβαίνει αμέσως μετά την καθαρή εγκατάσταση που έκανα με 9.10).
Πρίν είχα πάλι 9.10 αλλά απο αναβάθμιση απο 9.04 και δεν είχα αυτό το πρόβλημα παρά μόνο όταν έπαιζα βίντεο με τον mplayer ενώ αντίθετα με smplayer, vlc δεν είχα κανένα πρόβλημα.
Τώρα δυστυχώς με το που ενεργοποιήσω visual effects βγάζω τις οριζόντιες γραμμές παντού είτε παίζει βιντεο ειτε απλα είμαι στο desktop.παραθέτω το αποτέλεσμα της εντολής gedit /var/log/Xorg.0.log και ελπίζω στη βοήθεια των συμφορουμιτων :-)

Λοιπον, δοκίμασα με radeon.modeset=1 sto bootoption (δεν ξέρω αν αυτό εννούσες ως KMS)
O grub και μεχρι να κάνω Login είχε άπειρες κόκκινες και μπλέ οριζόντιες γραμμές, μόλις όμως μπήκα στο desktop μου, όλα λειτουργούν κανονικά.
Ενεργοποίησα visual effects και καμμία οριζόντια γραμμή δεν φαίνεται.
Εχω την εντύπωση όμως πως αυτο ειναι προσωρινό. Θα πρέπει να το κανω permanent?

μπα.... με ποιο προσεκτική ματιά..... βλέπω πως τώρα έχω οριζόντιες πλέ γραμμές στο άσπρο φοντο του περιηγητή αρχείων......

ναι αυτο ειναι προσωρινο, θα πρεπει να το ξαναβαζεις μετα απο καθε επανεκκινηση. Κατσε να δουμε αν δουλευει σωστα και το κανουμε μονιμο αν χρειαστει.

αν θελεις να ρισκαρεις δοκίμασε την 2η συμβουλή. Προσθετωντας το αποθετηρι εκεινο και κανοντας updates θα σου κατεβασει πιο καινουριες (πειραματικες) εκδοσεις των οδηγών. Αν μετα απο αυτο τυχει να μην μπορεις να μπεις σε γραφικο περιβαλλον, θα χρειαστεις την βοηθεια μας για να το επαναφερεις.

Πάντως το log έχει μπόλικα λάθη (που ίσως δεν θα έπρεπε να έχει). Εγώ θα σου πρότεινα αρχικά να δοκιμάσεις τον radeonhd που δεν έχει τόσα προβλήματα στο να αναγνωρίζει την οθόνη (χωρίς το option για το KMS). Όχι τίποτε άλλο, βλέπω απο το log τον driver να είναι συγχυσμένος με το θέμα της οθόνης... Ή το ορίζεις απο το xorg.conf.
